I love oatmeal! |
We intended to start Logan on solids when he turned 6 months old, but that date came one week before our trip south. Not wanting to worry about one more thing on the trip, I decided to wait until we returned. And then I decided to wait until the weekend so that we could experience this first as a family.
Logan got his first taste of oatmeal this past Saturday. Logan LOVES oatmeal. He loves it so much that he wants to coat his whole body in it from his hair to his toes. Or maybe he is trying a new skin regimen.
We got him a high chair over the weekend after two feedings on the floor in the Bumbo. Rocky got so jealous that I was on the floor feeding someone besides him. Putting Logan in that highchair felt like I was sending him off to college. All of a sudden he seemed so grown to me which made me get a little misty.
While I had no doubt, he really did and continues to do great eating solid foods. Half of the time, as the spoon comes towards his mouth, he tries to grab the handle and feed himself. He is so independent. This also explains how oatmeal gets everywhere because sometimes he misses the spoon handle and hits the bowled, oatmeal-filled portion of the spoon. It might be a messy job, but I think this may be my favorite baby thing so far. I can't wait to try all different kinds of foods with him.
Logan experienced his first basement hideout while under a tornado warning on Wednesday night. I had just put him to bed and flipped on the t.v. only to see that we were under a tornado warning. So, I went back upstairs to get Logan and herded Matt and Rocky into the basement until the warning lifted. Needless to say, a tornado never formed near us.
In other non-baby news, we had a new woodland creature venture into our yard at dusk Tuesday night, a bear. Let me say that again: there was a bear in our yard! A black bear! We knew they were in the area because the previous owners warned us not to hang bird feeders due of the bears. They lived in the house for 3 years and never saw one. We are here for 10 months and saw one take a leisurely stroll across our yard. Below is the great picture I took. Matt jokes it is like the pictures that people take of Bigfoot, swearing he is in the picture.
I swear there is a bear in this picture. |
It's been a eventful week in the Perry house!
